a rather short post this time, got internet connection problems after the floods in Prievidza. Some of these are almost 2 moths old.

comfortable chairs, decent coffee in the centre of Prievidza - a miracle

Austrian quality in slovak hands, Miro and his new love

btw never use russan filters, quality is even worse than chinese

some private billboard campaign agains recently elected government

this happens only if you really need to check something (can't remember what) on internet, BSoD in internet cafe

later I went to see my ex-neighbours from Brno. And I don't mean the dog. That's just a dog

Kristina brought some middleformat lenses for repair, hopefully I still got them somewhere around

me and dog whose name I can't recall

from a trip to Mala Fatra, I think, reminds me of Slovak paradise nature reserve, Miro prepairing to make a photo

upper level of cascade waterfall (there's a load of those) with some of our group members

just a quick snapshop of other tourists making a family album photo, while waiting for the rest of the group

Lucka probably aiming for a photographer. that'd be me

this ought to a short series of all our group members climbing up the ladder. Sadly I failed to expose correctly thus the result is more like series of white-washed-out freaks

Hetty doesn't like to be photographed. She ran after me for while immediately, luckily I was fast enough and the hill was too steep

random tourists at paths crossing

as far as I can remember Lucka said something like "Mirko, look there's a camera"

and he did look

another comfortable sitting spot

Tomb Raider style climbing. just, I'm not sure if Lara had a camera with her

now tell me, all the rocks there, isn't it like from Tomb Raider series?

we actually were at the top that's hidden somewhere in back

went to eat afterwards, took some photos on the parking lot and went home.

still life photography place? dunno, not the best light there

few from daily photography camp, trying Karol's style. Not working so good for me.

explaining photograms I think. Miro looks like Wolverine back in there

I've been there something like lecturer, not about the shooting but the darkroom priting stuff, meanwhile making some photos of the kids

they we're not allowed to swim in the pool. Then again, why the hell they wanted to swim the pool for fish?

Kids could ride on horses, more like ponies in the matter of size.

or they could play chess. Though none seemed interested in that. Atleast we, photographers, we're not bored. I lost all three games.

cleaning the pond in Bojnice garden around the castle

resting on place that used to be a fence long time ago. I remember beeing pretty much shattered when I attented the basic school there

the little bastards, sorry for the expression, were planing something mean. I mean all the time. Kids... TO DO: not having children.

cutting the white edges. I don't find that interesting, but maybe in their age. dunno.

not a best practice for drying pictures. the time was short.

I still remember priting the left picture, it was a pain the ass, negative correctly exposed for background shadows, yet we (I and the little author) had to print it for the some skin texture

Viki, surprisingly I still remember her name, clever girl. One of the youngest yet remembered what to do in the darkroom after first explanation, later teaching other kids. Made me feel a little more worthless.

installing an outdoor exhibition

without me ofcourse, too hot to do anything that day.

proud parents, sisters, brothers and maybe some non-related people

local policeman with highly trained dog (highly lazy too in my opinion)

volunteers for dog inspection, not drugs, just some red training, uhm, thing

just the dog was more interesting getting out the sun than finding some toy hidden at some kid

couldn't reach for the top string

a place with a nice view, where some time ago benches used to be

PHOTOGRAPHY TIP: how not to hold a rangefinder
(but seriously, it was a joke)
(yet I've seen a man holding a rangefinder like that)

[boring photo was here]

evening cart racers. not for long, this a place of prievidzas future McDonald

some child wanted to see the circus, it's mother wasn't just that excited about it

next up, croatia

2009-12-10

so, finally, after some time I was able to post some photos from october/november. lot of random stuff. I haven't been able to shoot something serious. The damn school keeps my mind occupied by other things than photography.

no quite symetrical. Used to be a cooling tower. now it's used for signal transmitters and advertisement. I call that recycling

noting fancy upthere. lot of mud down, under the steps

nice light on the bridge, although not suitable for b&w

Lomo camera. not me, but camera in my possession, currently loaded with Provia, waiting for getting crossprocessed.

dusk at crematory (tram stop is called like that). didn't see the actual crematory. whaever

not really good shot, just some random crap from street. Why the hell has to rain every day here?

while going from english test, she was stading there all alone, taking photo of a private party in facultys cafeteria. I think there's another shot of this in my "one per day" photoblog

printing photos with Miro.

and drying. I mean fast drying. We never have time to leave them to dry by themselves. Old hair dryer gets handy.

and I devoloped one negative there

this is how Miro takes photos. one handed, gotta learn that. all I get are blurred photos

what may happend if you live in a dorm. Well here it is. Some fan of mine left me nice message

again in photographic atelier at faculty of informatics. yeah, even IT people are artists (heh, not really)

soft light exercise

and some of mine, not the best though

3:2 is not the best ratio for this one

6:7 suited more (but those I'm not going to post on this blog)

note that paper stuff in the corner of the glass frame there, yet I was sitting, yay for my lazy ass

I've walked around this old church like hundred times and never actualy noticed the contrast of the old, bricked walls and the new plastic boxes for electrometers or whatever..maybe phonelines

I don't usually do color stuff, but I simply had to get there during a clear day, when the builings color almost machted the color of the sky

Billa sign on top of a apartment block. how weird

man unwiring his childs kite somewhere around Brno

frog kite above the "natural landmark"

not quite sure how to explain this one. He was playing a guitar and she was playing music from a phone. Listening to music from a phone is so much better than a guitar.

necklace - from a bottle of booze

this one's self-explanatory

a small "how to" get someone angry

shoot and shoot

and make even more photos

and don't get discouraged

you may, at the end, get a look like this :)

some photos from celebrations of Velvet revolution on 17. november (google it for more information)

according to my roommate, this is a Slavic flag, though from what I know it's flag of Moravian people, i'm not that much into history to know it for sure.

ofcourse, there were many photographers, 1/20s think this one

and many fans, either of having a photo from this day or of the velvet revolution

"freedom for christmas" says the sign

walking along the crowd, across the city

yet the police took the celebration on their own, why not doing the same as they did 20 years ago. I wouldn't call this freedom, definitely not after 20 years..

I went to a photography exhibition which took place in a theatre

it was nice to be allowed to get everywhere. I wonder why they have two watering-cans, full of water, above the stage.

"Remember! I has never been better!"

using a sec. lamp as a maskholder. Working in this theatre sure is lot of fun...

"Caution - electronic device
put your finger in
it's nothing"

those big prints were everywhere

two photos I shouldn't publish, ther're many burned areas
yet I had talked much about these, so please, don't mind these

the most famous Leica of czech republic. Streit's hand with his M6, gotta hate the theatre spotlight

another printing session, this time I've done some work

we went to a local deviantart meeting

two main entertainers, Wellferine and, hmm, I don't remember. I'd call her a facebook spammer. sorry

though it was funny to have the camera aimed at her

boob analysis of the drawing

saying good bye?

Stefan listing some drawings and other nice lady at dA meeting

and the rest is dedicated to savi3

one of a hell girl, live just rushes from her

playing with duck-puppet

trying to catch it's tongue

ducky eating the whole hand, got funny that evening

reminds me of computer networks class, something about thin and thick ethernet cables

wonder who could lock a bike that way

waited for the right moment, worth it. being closer wouldn't work so good
